I am a Book Artist and Printmaker, based in London.
I completed the 2 year City Lit Fine Art course in 2016 and went on to the MA in Visual Arts (Book Arts) at Camberwell College. I was awarded an MA with Distinction by the University of the Arts, London, in 2019 and I am a member of London Artists Books.
I am a Social Scientist by training, and I worked in Universities and the NHS throughout my career. I grew up near Huddersfield, in the Yorkshire Woollen District, and this background has influenced the choice of subject and perspective in my creative practice. It is rooted in a fascination with the convergence of memory, place and material culture. I am interested in the ways in which geography and the land have shaped industry, wealth and inequality.
For me, an artist book, is always driven by a narrative. This does not mean that it must contain lengthy text but that it conveys stories and meaning through visual imagery. My books and bookworks are handmade in small editions—cut and folded, sewn, and stitched.
